At the university outpatient clinic for psychological psychotherapy, we support you in coping with mental illnesses and personal challenges with the most modern psychotherapeutic methods. Your treatment is carried out by experienced psychotherapists. Our offer is open to anyone who wishes to seek psychotherapeutic help. Please also note further information in the FAQs.

A referral from a general practitioner or specialist is not necessary. Treatment costs are usually covered by the statutory health insurance companies. If you have private insurance, please check with your health insurance company which psychotherapeutic services will be covered in advance.

On our homepage, you will find initial information about our services and the treatment process. Please use the respective links for further information.

Psychotherapy at the university outpatient clinic for psychological psychotherapy cannot take place in case of a current pension request or an existing addiction (e.g. drug or alcohol addiction). In the event of a pension request, we recommend that you see us again after the pension procedure has been completed, and in the case of addiction, after physical withdrawal.

Since we, as a research and teaching department, have a close connection to the university, we try to improve therapy options, for example in the context of research projects. We also train psychology students in a practice-oriented fashion. This means that therapy sessions, as part of the Psychotherapeutic Case Study seminar at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, are video-recorded for various purposes.

From Oktober 2022 on students from the master program "Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy" will participate in the therapy sessions. If you do not agree with that, unfortunately we cannot offer you a therapy spot.

We ask for your understanding that, as an institution primarily focused on research and teaching, we can generally only treat people who agree to the video recording and its use for teaching.
